A PAN Card Form is a document used to apply for a Permanent Account Number (PAN) in India. The form collects details like your name, date of birth, address, contact details, and proof of identity and address. It is required for tax-related activities and financial transactions. A PAN Card application form, referred to as Form 49A or Form 49AA, is used for the allotment of the Permanent Account Number (PAN).
PAN Cards are essential for the Income Tax Department to identify taxpayers. As such, each earning citizen of India is required to have a PAN Card for correspondence, TDS/TCS credits, specified transactions, returns of wealth/FBT/gift/income, tax payments, etc.
Form 49A must be filled in by Indian citizens who are located within or outside the country, while Form 49AA must be used by NRIs.

In this method, after the online data entry, the applicant will have to print out the form, attach photos and send the application along with required documents. Given below is the process involved
Step 1 - Choose the category of the individual applying for a PAN Card
Step 2 - Complete the form with all the required details and cross-check to verify that the information provided is accurate before proceeding to pay.
Step 3 -Make the payment online and you will receive a duly filled Form 49A / Form 49AA along with the payment receipt in your email.

This method is an easy way to apply for a PAN Card. For the e-sign method, applicants need to scan and submit the required documents, photo, and signature to the Protean portal. The steps to applying for a PAN using the scan-based e-Sign method are as follows:
Step 1 - Visit the official Protean portal.
Step 2 - Select “Quick Links” and click on “Online PAN Services”.
Step 3 - Click on “Paperless PAN Applications”.
Step 4 - Register and generate a token.
Step 5 - Select “New PAN Indian Citizen” (Form 49A) and click on the “Individual” option.
Step 6 - Provide the required information.
Step 7 - Consent to data usage.
Step 8 - Click on “Submit scanned images through e-Sign".
Step 9 - Choose if you need a physical PAN Card.
Step 10 - Type in the last four digits of your Aadhaar number.
Step 11- Provide the required details, including your father’s name, contact details, and source of income.
Step 12 - Confirm your AO code, and upload your photo, signature and documents.
Step 13 - Review and submit the form and make payment.
Step 14 - Sign the application digitally using the OTP.
Step 15 - You will receive your PAN Card
In this method, the applicant's Aadhaar details will be taken for the PAN Card application. The PAN Card will be sent to the residential address that has been given in the Aadhaar card. It is not necessary to send a PAN application along with documents and photo to Protean eGov Technologies Limited.
The steps to apply for a PAN using the e-KYC method are as follows:
Step 1 - Visit the official Protean website.
Step 2 - Select “Quick Links” and click on “Online PAN Services”.
Step 3 - Click on “Paperless PAN Applications”.
Step 4 -Register and generate a token.
Step 5 - Select “New PAN Indian Citizen” (Form 49A) and click on the “Individual” option.
Step 6 - Provide the required personal details (name, date of birth, contact number, email, etc.).
Step 7 - Submit the form after consenting to data usage.
Step 8 - A token will be sent to your email.
Step 9 - Select “Submit digitally through e-KYC and e-Sign".
Step 10 - Click on the option for a physical e-PAN card or an e-PAN card according to your needs.
Step 11 - Type in the last four digits of your Aadhaar number.
Step 12 - Select “yes” if you want your Aadhaar photo on your PAN.
Step 13 - Provide the required details, including your parents’ names, source of income, contact details, and confirm your AO code (Assessing Office Code).
Step 14 - Review the details and make the payment.
Step 15 - Digitally sign the application using the OTP sent to your mobile number.
Step 16 - You will receive your e-PAN within 2 hours, and the physical PAN by mail.
